Missouri University of Science and Technology, a NCAA Division II institution in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, is accepting applications for a head coach for highly successful men’s golf program. The successful candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic individual who is committed to the continued academic and athletic success of student-athletes and will adhere to all NCAA and GLVC rules. The individual selected will be responsible for all aspects of operation and management of the golf program. Duties may include, but are not limited to, recruiting, budgeting, fundraising, scheduling competitions, scheduling and planning practice at the local golf course, and cultivating alumni and relationships in the community. This position requires personal and professional integrity, an excellent work ethic, time management, and exceptional motivational and communication skills.

Essential Functions

Administers and plans all aspects of a competitive men’s golf program Demonstrates a philosophy that emphasizes academics as a top priority for student athletes Supports, evaluates, and monitors the academic performance of student-athletes Develops strategies to identify, recruit, and retain high caliper student-athletes that will succeed both academically and athletically in the golf program Cooperates with the athletic training staff and other health care professionals in the care and prevention of injuries and illnesses Responsible for managing a budget effectively according to department and university guidelines Approves and manages all team travel, hotels, meals, equipment purchases, recruiting, and all other expenses Promotes an environment of strong character by establishing and enforcing rules of conduct as well as fostering an environment that leads to academic, athletic, emotional, and social growth Serves as ambassador for the golf program and engages with alumni, parents, and additional stakeholders Responsible for annual fundraising goals and cultivating relationships with alumni Ensures all student-athletes have completed required eligibility forms for participation Evaluates and maintains the inventory of team supplies, equipment, and uniforms Maintains collaborative working relationships with various departments throughout the campus community (i.e., admissions, financial aid, residence life, development, alumni, etc.) Possesses thorough knowledge and a commitment to the rules and policies of the NCAA, the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and the University Works in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach to develop strength training and conditioning programs Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
