Collegiate Sports The University of Olivet invites applications for a full-time Head Coach for its Men’s & Women’s Golf programs.The University of Olivet is in the south-central Michigan town of Olivet, which is a close-knit, rural community offering quiet streets and natural surroundings, yet is not more than 30 minutes from the larger cities of Lansing and Battle Creek. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach directs the operations of the UO Men’s and Women’s Golf programs, recruits prospective student-athletes and coaches student-athletes in the sport of Golf.
Qualifications The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree and adequate knowledge about the fundamentals and techniques of Golf obtained through previous coaching at the high school and/or collegiate level.
Along with the educational and sport experience, serious consideration will be given to the candidate with characteristics that coincide with the following principals: maintains and promotes the academic pursuits of The University of Olivet student-athletes; complies with and reinforces the Comet Athletic Program’s rules and mission; acts professionally and communicates appropriately with the University’s students, coaches, administration, staff, alumni and spectators; and is willing to develop professionally.

Responsibilities:
1.Direct the operations of The University of Olivet Golf programs within the standards of The University of Olivet and applicable governing bodies.
2.Educate and coach student-athletes in the sport of Golf.
3.Ability to envision and drive growth for the University’s Golf programs.
4.Recruit prospective student-athletes according to the enrollment goals and admissions standards of The University of Olivet.
5.Schedule and coordinate competition schedules, team travel accommodations, team tryouts, practices, meetings, individual workouts, and conditioning sessions.
6.Coordinate the issuance, care, inventory and collection of equipment, uniforms and supplies for the Golf programs. Submit appropriate equipment inventory forms to the Director of Athletics within the requested times.
7.Manage Golf budgets and coordinate team fund raising activities.
8.Coordinate facility usage for the Golf programs.
9.Submit team rosters to the Director of Athletics on a regular basis.
10.Ensure the proper completion of physical examinations and all forms relating to the examinations and emergency medical authorization before a student participates.
11.Manage duties and responsibilities of assistant coaches with the approval of the Director of Athletics, as needed.
12.Coordinate and lead at least one team community service project during each academic year.
13.Supervise student-athletes including practices, meetings, workouts, travel, and other team functions.
14.Attend all athletic department meetings and appropriate University functions (pep rallies, homecoming, Hall of Fame inductions, etc.).
15.Exhibit appropriate conduct with students, coaches, administration, staff, alumni, spectators, officials, and opponents at all times.
16.Collect and submit appropriate student-athlete eligibility forms.
17.Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
18.Notify all members of the team of all Comet Athletic Program’s policies, procedures, and training rules as they pertain to the team.
19.Maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid to be held on file in the Office of Athletics.
20.Submit driving record verification for use of institutional vehicles.
21.Work within the missions and philosophies of the Comet Athletic Program and The University of Olivet.
22.Conduct yourself and promote attitudes and behaviors among student-athletes that coincide with the policies outlined in the Comet Athletic Handbook.
23.Make decisions that positively affect the Comet Athletic Program.
24.Maintain a proper perspective regarding the priorities of academics and athletics at The University of Olivet.
