Required Education:

4 Year Degree The University at Albany Department of Athletics is seeking a Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Primary responsibilities will include:

•Designing, directing and implementing periodized, evidence-based, sport specific programs for a Division I FCS football program.

•Developing and educating student-athletes on the proper techniques for all weight training activities.

•Assessing and evaluating each student-athlete's movement and program individual needs to improve physical development; help reduce injuries; and enhance athletic performance.

•Maintaining current knowledge of the latest trends and technology to track student-athlete progress.

•Serving as a resource for student-athletes by providing educational resources about nutrition, supplements and diet.

•Effectively communicating, monitoring and supervising all weight training and conditioning activities to ensure safety and welfare for student-athletes.

•Serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the women’s golf program (Division I MAAC Associate Member).

•Adhering to all policies, procedures, and regulations of the university, conference affiliates and the NCAA.

•Performing administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance.

•Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Candidates must possess the following qualities: •Positive coaching style and willingness to work and to invest the needed time to develop the student-athlete, which will include working non-traditional hours (i.e., evenings, weekends, holidays.) •Strong passion and positive energy to help motivate student-athletes. •Outstanding communication skills with administrators, sport coaches, student-athletes, sports medicine staff, as well as other strength coaches. •Excellent documentation and organizational skills.

Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in strength and conditioning, preferably in kinesiology, physiology or exercise related field. Current certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) and certification in CPR/AED Training. Work experience as a football strength coach in college or professional athletics for one year required.

Preferred requirements

Master's Degree with experience designing and implementing strength programs for two or more years at the collegiate level. Experience working with a collegiate or professional football team.
