Head Engineering

Manage the engineering execution through a team of discipline engineers and PMC engineering team to ensure timely delivery of all engineering deliverables. The engineering (conceptual, feasibility, front-end, detailed, etc.) is generally performed through contracted agencies (Consultants/ EPC contractors/ Vendors, etc) in order to procure, construct and operate the surface facilities of the assigned capital projects.


• Provide leadership to the engineering team members for delivery (Process, civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fire & gas, HSE, pipeline, etc.) and PMC engineering team in ensuring individual responsibilities are carried out towards the successful completion of the projects.


• Interact with various technical teams within the company including Operations, Reservoir Development, Drilling & Wells engineering, etc. to provide/ finalise the design basis/ input needed for conceptual/ basic/ detailed engineering. It is imperative to keep updated with dynamic changes to the design basis to & from these teams in order to meet the overall Company objectives.


• Provide all technical input and liaise with Governmental agencies for necessary Project / Statutory approvals viz. MoEF (Environmental Clearances) DGMS, PESO, Pollution Control Boards, Maritime organisations, etc.


• Ensure the development facilities are designed for fit-for-purpose and appropriate execution methods, whilst also maintaining necessary and appropriate engineering standards/ practices.


• Interact and ensure the engineering team involvement in all tendering processes including award of engineering consultancy, EPC/ Construction contracts, procurement of packages/ equipment/ bulk materials, etc. Ensure smooth interface with the selected vendors, contractors, etc. to ensure transfer of data/ documents/ drawings to & from these agencies for the successful completion of engineering, procurement & construction of the project.
Documentation:
• Manage the in-house & PMC engineering teams to ensure receipt & custody of all documentation/ drawings from concept, basic, detailed to ‘As-built’ status.


General project requirement:
• Provide all input and assistance to the Project teams viz. Fabrication/Construction/installation management teams for achieving timely completion of all construction activities in line with the project objectives. Timely response to all technical queries/ change requests is very critical.


• Coordinate with the non-technical teams within the organisation, including commercial, finance, etc. as necessary related to the project execution.


• Ensure that the development complies with and sets new standards in areas of Quality, HSE and CSR.
• Assist in obtaining full approval of related MC resolutions, finance commitment, work programme & budget (W&PB) and expenditures consistent with company and JV requirements.


• Ensure the project management are appropriately informed of engineering progress and its critical path, including delivery of senior management reports, presentations, etc.


• Coordinate and provide appropriate technical input to the exploration / new ventures team to ensure company objectives set from time to time related to any M&A activities.


The secondary functions of the role are:
• Develop & maintain a robust engineering team comprising of all discipline. Liaise with HR in recruitment, training & development and periodic performance assessment of the engineering team.


• Provide general engineering & development input for the Company business as required, and to take on any additional responsibilities as appropriate from time to time

Qualifications: Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Petroleum/ Chemical engineering/Mechanical/Instrumentation /Electrical or equivalent. Minimum of 18 to 20 years of engineering experience of which at least 7-10 years in the role of Project Engineering / Lead in large Engineering / Oil & Gas companies.
• Business understanding: Oil & Gas fields development, project management, field development plan, HSE & Quality, Asset Integrity, Statutory / environmental regulations requirements, national & international contracting & procurement practices, etc.
• Knowledge: Project engineering, project execution, construction, HSE principles & practices, QA/QC, tendering practices, etc
• Skills: Understand project costing, interpersonal skills, communication skills, reporting & presentation skills, etc
