Responsibilities:
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University’s Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
Design, implement, and manage comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to the specific needs of each intercollegiate athletic team, focusing on strength, power, speed, agility, and overall athletic performance. Supervise and mentor strength and conditioning staff while providing hands-on coaching and guidance during training sessions. Collaborate with head coaches to develop sport-specific performance programs, ensuring alignment with team goals, and regularly communicate athlete progress to coaching staff and athletic trainers. Partner with athletic trainers to develop and implement injury prevention programs, rehabilitation plans, and integrated performance training based on the latest evidence-based practices. Provide nutrition education to student-athletes, as appropriate within the professional scope of a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. Oversee the daily maintenance, safety, and overall presentation of the strength and conditioning facility and equipment; coordinate service and upgrades as needed in collaboration with the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations. Develop and manage training schedules for all in-season and off-season athletic teams, ensuring efficient and equitable facility usage. Foster positive and professional mentoring relationships with student-athletes, contributing to their athletic, academic, and personal growth. Support student engagement and retention efforts by helping student-athletes build strong connections within the Lewis University community. Assist in recruiting efforts by meeting with prospective student-athletes as requested by coaching staff. Collaborate with the Associate Athletic Director for External Relations to develop strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing weight room facilities and resources Participate in the recruitment process by meeting with prospective student-athletes, as requested by coaching staff, to discuss the strength and conditioning program and its role in athlete development. Ensure full compliance with all NCAA, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and university policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a closely related field. Current CPR/First Aid Certification and CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) credential. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs at the collegiate or professional level. Proven ability to mentor and develop student-athletes, with a commitment to leadership, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal growth. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse community of student-athletes, coaches, and university staff. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring the delivery of accurate and high-quality work. Demonstrated problem-solving, time management, and critical thinking abilities. Capacity to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and with minimal supervision. Flexibility to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing schedules and responsibilities.
