4 Year Degree This person will develop, coordinate, and manage a comprehensive sports medicine program for all Indian Hills Community College Athletic programs across both Ottumwa and Centerville campuses. Ensure timely and effective acute injury assessment and treatment is available at all college athletic events. Serve as the primary coordinator for student athletic training practicum experiences, providing mentorship and supervision. Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field; master's degree preferred. Current certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Iowa, or eligible for licensure. Three (3) years professional experience as an Athletic Trainer. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of student-athletes, coaches, and staff Effective communication skills in both individual and group settings Demonstrated leadership, organization, and time management skills Work Performed Develop, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive sports medicine program for the College, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment. Provide athletic training services for the College’s athletic department, including attendance at home competitions, coordinating coverage for scheduled practices, and potential travel to away events. Collaborate directly with coaches to manage student-athlete healthcare needs, including medical clearance reports, physical exams, physician referrals, insurance and consent forms, and safety equipment. Maintain a thorough understanding of the College’s insurance policies—including athletic and international student coverage—and coordinate with insurance providers to ensure proper filing of athletic injury claims. Supervise and evaluate students during practicum experiences; maintain accurate documentation of injuries and student practicum hours. Communicate effectively with coaches and the Athletic Director regarding athlete health and program needs. Assist in maintaining positive public relations within the local community and participate in community outreach events when possible. Represent the College professionally and positively with prospective, current, and former students, clients, suppliers, and community members. Schedule and maintain regular office hours for student consultations. Foster cooperative relationships with professional personnel, local organizations, public officials, and other stakeholders. Provide immediate supervisor with a schedule of office hours. Meet all assigned office commitments punctually and reliably. Submit reports to Student Services on any students requiring counseling or additional support. Actively participate on any College committees as appointed. Maintain accurate inventories of athletic training equipment and supplies; submit requisitions for necessary materials. Promptly report any needed repairs for facilities or equipment. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in sports medicine and athletic training equipment. Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
