Job DescriptionWe are seeking a seasoned and visionary Head of Private Banking to lead and grow our Private Banking proposition in the Garden Route area of the Western Cape. This strategic leadership role is accountable for business growth, client acquisition, and revenue delivery in a highly competitive and affluent market.
You will lead a team of high-performing Private Bankers to deliver bespoke financial solutions, while actively expanding our market presence, entrenching our brand, and deepening relationships with influential and high-net-worth clients. This role calls for a leader who thrives on business building, innovation, and exceptional client engagement, with a focus on delivering measurable growth and elevating the client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Growth & Business Development: Expand the Private Banking footprint, grow market share, and drive revenue through strategic business-building initiatives.
Client Relationship Management: Cultivate long-term relationships with influential clients, delivering tailored investment, lending, and advisory solutions.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Private Banking team to deliver exceptional results.
Risk & Operational Oversight: Manage credit decisions, portfolio health, budgets, and compliance to ensure sustainable growth.
Collaboration & Brand Positioning: Partner across teams to deliver integrated solutions and entrench the Bank’s brand in the region.
QualificationsBachelor’s Degree (or equivalent NQF7 qualification) in Finance, Commerce, or related field, FAIS-aligned.RE1 – Regulatory Examination for Key Individuals: Required for approval as a Key Individual to oversee fit and proper compliance within Financial Services.RE5 – Regulatory Examination for Representatives: Required to provide financial advice and intermediary services under FAIS.Experience Required
Proven Leadership: 8–10 years’ senior leadership experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, or Affluent Client Services, leading teams of 10+ in a highly competitive market.Business Growth & Market Expansion: Demonstrated success in building and growing profitable client portfolios, driving market share, and unlocking new revenue opportunities.Credit Structuring & Risk Management: Extensive experience in preparing and motivating credit applications, partnering with Credit to deliver quality lending decisions, and managing portfolio health.Financial & Operational Expertise: Strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, governance, and implementing integrated, multi-product solutions to meet complex client needs.Additional InformationBehavioural Competencies:
