About the role:

Join Takeda as the Head, Digital Ethics & Compliance for Takeda's U.S. Business Unit (USBU) at the senior director level. You will lead the strategic alignment and integration of global digital risk and control frameworks within the USBU. Your leadership will ensure the implementation and adoption of Digital Ethics & Compliance (DE&C) initiatives to promote responsible innovation and regulatory compliance across Takeda's U.S. operations. Acting as a trusted DE&C authority and collaborator, you will focus on enhancing Takeda's ethical culture, risk management, and compliance standards while leveraging advanced technologies to drive innovation and growth in a compliant and ethical manner.

How you will contribute:

Leading the USBU DE&C Team by ensuring that the USBU E&C and Global Digital E&C objectives are achieved.

Partner with the global DE&C team to build and establish a DE&C framework and subsequent deployment within USBU as necessary.

Co-Creating and supporting the development of the Global DE&C framework by embedding US specific requirements. Raise awareness of ethical innovation (including technology ethics) throughout the USBU.

Supporting DE&C audits, assessments and respective audit remediations.

Partner with USBU and US Region DD&T, business colleagues and E&C team members on technology decisions and their impact on the USBU and broader Takeda organizations

Serve as first point of contact to the USBU on matters related to DE&C by providing guidance on compliance requirements, policies, procedures, risk methodology and activities. Provide advisory support and challenge related to development and use of innovative technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence)

Implement and oversee governance to drive US region approach to Digital Ethics & Compliance by coordinating with other BU/BF US DE&C team members on US regulatory matters.

Link and liaison between the USBU and the Global Digital E&C teams

Develop ethical innovation capability throughout the USBU E&C organization and act as a subject matter expert and internal resource for USBU E&C colleagues. Collaborate with other USBU E&C teams (including USBU business partners, Operations, Monitoring, Investigations and Learning & Engagement) to support business operations and deliver on annual goals

Analyze the impact of regulatory developments on Takeda's business operations and compliance requirements

Monitor and analyze current and emerging local industry trends, identify key drivers of change and assess their potential impact on the organization

Stay up to date with evolving best practices and standards within the industry and with industry benchmarks.

Ensure that US laws and regulations are incorporated in the data privacy strategy for Takeda in the USBU

Provide guidance and challenge on data privacy matters, including strategic decisions with privacy implications

Ensure alignment of the data privacy strategy with the build out of Ethical Innovation

Prepare materials for and periodically lead topics in USBU and US-wide Risk, Ethics & Compliance Committee meetings

Contribute to global E&C program development (Code of Conduct, Speak Up, Values initiatives, Policies and Procedures, etc.)

Increase business acumen by obtaining therapeutic and product knowledge to support current and pipeline products

E&C Partner for USBU Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T)

Member of USBU E&C LT, USBU DD&T Council and Global DE&C LT

Manage direct report(s)

Champion for Diversity, Ethics and Inclusion within E&C and USBU

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in DD&T related field. Relevant certifications in Privacy.

Experienced enterprise leader, with at least 10 years' relevant experience and 4 years in Pharma.

Deep expertise in Ethics, Bioethics or Technology Ethics and Privacy

Proven track record in leading teams in a matrixed organization

Experience with the healthcare industry and with laws, regulations and industry guidance that affect the pharmaceutical industry

Extensive leadership and experience with leadership and advisory/consultative roles in a matrixed organization

Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to manage potential, present and future ethical, compliance and privacy risks

Experience in using ethical decision making.

Role model for Takeda's values, ethics and values-based decision making

High interpersonal and communication skills including ability to assess risk, challenge and provide advice/ guidance to business employing a problem-solving approach

Works cross-functionally / collaborates / manages direct reports and matrix· Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead change efforts through effective communication and persuasion, and leading without authority when applicable

Strong operations, process-orientation, data analytics, or technical expertise to effectively design, develop and implement privacy, compliance and relevant business processes, controls, and workflows

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$208,200.00 - $327,140.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
