Summary:
Hatchery Supervisor at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Farm team supporting efforts to ensure fish health, mortality, and excellent execution of all operations. This position involves overseeing the Tech team, all operations of the hatchery, and supporting the Hatchery Manager and is ideal for someone with aquaculture expertise, strong leadership skills, and adaptability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Monitoring and Nutritional Management:
Monitor all operations including feeding, environmental conditions, and fish behavior. Coordinate with the manager in facility operations to maintain proper densities, predict growth rates, and ensure the site is functioning at full capacity. Identify trout disease to eliminate product loss. Apply satiation feeding techniques based on knowledge of shellfish nutrition to maximize growth economically.2. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Oversee Hatchery Technician I/II employee(s) and/or fish hatchery workers, leading the team with assigned projects or tasks. Utilize team support when needed to complete duties effectively. Work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. Be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task effectively.3. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
Enforce health and safety guidelines to ensure compliance with all local, state, and Federal safety and environmental laws. Maintain company assets in good operational condition, adhering to strict biosecurity protocols. Submit accurate weekly reports of site operations and maintain detailed records. Adapt to varying work hours, including nights and weekends, based on production needs with short notice.4. Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving:
Learn and understand all operations of the site, troubleshooting and problem-solving quickly when necessary. Respond to site alarms promptly, ensuring efficient resolution of issues. Work towards continuous improvement in productivity, quality, safety, inventory levels, and operating expense, utilizing effective aquaculture techniques. Strive for operational efficiency and profitability through effective resource management and organization. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aquaculture or 3 or more years’ experience in finfish Aquaculture.Preferred:
