What you'll do
Viasat UK are looking to recruit an experienced Hardware Engineer who can operate in a fast-paced environment as part of a multi-disciplined team across all aspects of standard and bespoke secure digital design solutions. As a Hardware Engineer on our team, you will be involved in all aspects of a challenging and rewarding engineering role covering design, test, production support and customer unit evaluation and commissioning.
The day-to-day
Ownership of the design and delivery of hardware throughout the development lifecycleSpecification and design of high speed digital boards for products and test equipmentDesign, build and test of development and production test equipmentSchematic capture and support of pcb layoutCo-ordinate design with Mechanical, Software and System engineersHardware design proving testingSupport to software and system testingProduction of development and production test processes and procedures.Support to manufacturing, resolving test and production issues, training production staffResolution of design, obsolescence and production issues on existing productsIntegration of Data At Rest products in to customer platforms
In addition, from time to time, you may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or business objectives.
What you'll need
Full development life-cycle experienceExcellent understanding of electronic design fundamentals, high speed digital design and signal integrityProven track record of digital circuit developmentAdept with hardware testing and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, power supplies and multi-meters.Proficient with industry standard CAD toolsets (e.g. Cadence or Mentor Schematic & Layout Tools)Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar disciplineMust have, or be capable of obtaining, UK security clearance

Experience supporting productionDesign for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) methodologies and techniquesEmbedded firmware design (C/C++/assembler/Python).Software design for test and test equipment developmentWriting test specifications and carrying out HW and system testing
