Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer

Job Description

As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will support the overhaul of three avionics boxes for a NATO country's Air Force. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle and collaborate with international cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

Analyze customer requirements to translate mission needs into robust hardware solutions.Create and refine electronic designs and system architecture that meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.Leverage simulation tools to build and validate verification test benches for complex circuitry.Participate in design reviews, offer technical insight, and drive continuous improvement.Manage configuration control to ensure design integrity and traceability throughout development.Integrate hardware systems into larger platforms, supporting lab testing and field deployment.Provide LRU-level design leadership and guide subsystem development.

Required Skills

8+ years' experience in board design, including high-speed boards.Hands-on experience with Mentor Graphics and/or Cadence Allegro.Skilled in simulation and analysis experience (signal integrity, power integrity, thermal simulation), preferably using HyperLynx.Development of design-related documentation.Proficiency in hardware, schematic capture, and simulation.

Assets

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Proficient in the use of industry-standard electronics design and analysis tools.Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards (DO-254).

Work Environment

The position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in-office located in the Nepean region of Ottawa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
