**Job Summary**
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, mission‑driven company within higher education dining. We are seeking a **growth‑minded Chef Manager** to lead culinary operations for a college campus account, including oversight of a high‑volume retail concept such as **Halal Shack** . This leader will drive culinary excellence, operational efficiency, and an exceptional guest experience for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall success of both the **culinary program** and **food service operations** , with accountability for menu execution, cost management, staff development, food safety, and brand compliance.
**Culinary & Operational Leadership**
+ Lead full culinary management of the campus dining operation, including BOH and FOH oversight.
+ Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor relationships to ensure consistent product quality and availability.
+ Oversee menu development, production planning, portioning, and quality presentation across all platforms.
+ Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and regulatory requirements.
+ Maintain accountability for food and labor costs, with working knowledge of P&L performance and contract-managed service expectations.
**Halal Shack / Retail Brand Responsibilities**
+ Operate the Halal Shack (or comparable concept) in alignment with brand standards, recipes, and service expectations.
+ Ensure correct execution of proprietary recipes, flavor profiles, prep guides, and portion standards.
+ Uphold cultural, dietary, and halal food preparation standards with attention to authenticity and integrity.
+ Train, coach, and develop team members on brand-specific processes, station setup, cooking methods, and guest engagement.
+ Monitor throughput, speed of service, and guest satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.
+ Execute local marketing initiatives, promotions, and menu features in partnership with campus leadership and brand representatives.
**Sustainability & Local Sourcing**
+ Support sustainability initiatives including waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and environmentally conscious production practices.
+ Develop menus using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients where possible.
**People & Team Management**
+ Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor culinary and service staff, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
+ Provide ongoing performance coaching and ensure adherence to standards of professionalism, food quality, cleanliness, and safety.
+ Lead by example in communication, organization, and teamwork.
