The Opportunity:
P&G is offering a fantastic opportunity for a PhD intern to join our hair care team. In this role, you will help create a reliable test to measure how well different conditioning agents work to untangle hair. The project will involve comparing various conditioning products and understanding how they help with detangling. You will also develop a model to explain the factors that influence how tangles are released, such as friction and surface changes. Additionally, you will create a guide for using these conditioning agents based on different hair types and levels of damage.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn and grow professionally and possess excellent communication skills—both written and verbal. Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop a reliable and quantifiable detangling test stand to study the complex phenomena of hair detangling.
+ Evaluate the performance of various conditioning agents, such as silicones and fatty alcohols, found in rinse-off products like shampoos and conditioners.
+ Compare different conditioning actives and create a model to explain how they contribute to the detangling process.
+ Create a guide on how to use these conditioning agents tailored to different hair types and damage levels.
+ Conduct data analysis and coding to support project goals and enhance experimental outcomes.
Job Qualifications
Required:
+ Education: Working towards a PhD in Chemical Engineering or Material Science & Engineering.
+ Technical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and coding skills.
+ Available to work a 12-week internship from May/early June to August in the summer of 2026. The internship is 5 days a week in office at our Mason, Ohio office.
