Job Opportunity: H&S Lead – EACOP Project

Location: Tanga, Tanzania
Project: East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) – a 1,443km pipeline transporting Uganda’s crude oil to the Tanga port in Tanzania.
Duration: 6 months 
Work schedule: 8x2 weeks rotation

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Health & Safety Lead to join the EACOP project team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe execution of one of Africa’s largest infrastructure projects. The H&S Lead will drive the implementation of robust HSE strategies, mentor multicultural teams, and ensure compliance across all project sites and offices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead HSE planning, risk assessments, and contractor evaluations. Support project mobilization and Go/No-Go reviews. Monitor and audit HSE compliance across contractors and inspection services. Deliver training and coaching to local personnel. Promote EACOP’s Zero Harm principles and ensure emergency response coordination. Participate in incident investigations and HSE inspections. Represent HSE systems to internal and external auditors.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in HSE or related field (or equivalent experience). NEBOSH Diploma / IGC or equivalent certifications. 7–10 years of HSE management experience, including site-based roles. Proven experience in major oil & gas construction projects. Strong leadership in multicultural and multi-location environments.

Required Competencies:

Expertise in ISO 45001 & ISO 9001 frameworks. Proficiency in tools like Assure, OMIE, Aconex, SharePoint, MS Office. Strong understanding of PTW systems, RCA, and HSE analytics. Excellent communication and mentoring skills. Ability to work autonomously and adapt to dynamic project needs.
