GWM Senior Manager, Business Risk Management Requisition ID: 241461 Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. **Purpose** As the GWM **Senior Manager, Business Risk Management** , you will shape how risk is understood, managed and embedded across Global Wealth Management (GWM). You’ll lead first-line risk programs that directly strengthen the resiliency of our GWM businesses and functional units, including operational, regulatory, and compliance assessments within GWM. **What You'll Bring:** **Be a Strategic Risk Leader** + Identify, establish and elevate GWM’s risk management practices, benchmarking against global standards and driving operational excellence across GWM businesses + Lead high-impact risk assessments to evaluate control effectiveness, identify vulnerabilities and recommend practical enhancements to strengthen our risk posture + Ensure engagements are expertly and effectively performed **Act as a subject matter expert across GWM** + Sustain deep expertise across diverse Wealth businesses - brokerages, asset management, estates and trust, private banking, mutual fund dealers, and International Wealth Management (IWM), including operational processes, regulatory obligations, and risk governance + Foster knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and industry developments **Shape the future of GWM** + Develop proposals and business cases, as required + Design and enhance frameworks policies and controls to manage risks of new wealth management initiatives, digital platforms, products and services, and ensuring technological innovation progresses safely + Establish global standards across multiple jurisdictions including IWM to manage non-financial risks **Drive insights through analytics and monitoring** + Lead the sustainment and implementation of on-going and new monitoring programs + Analyze data from monitoring programs and assessments to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for process improvement or automation + Prepare presentations for Executives to clearly communicate results of monitoring and risk analysis + Prepare insightful and comprehensive Executive reporting and board materials with actionable recommendations and concise commentary **Influence and collaborate at all levels** + Build and foster strong partnerships with business leaders, stakeholders and control functions to create an integrated risk management framework and enhance business line effectiveness + Initiate, manage, and deliver projects by working independently or within cross-functional teams and/or Wealth Management businesses with the implementation of monitoring initiatives and/or controls + Interpret and assess business units and applicable regulations, processes and controls to provide practical recommendations and advice **Lead People and Culture** + Champion a client-focused culture and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge + Ensure individual and team goals are aligned with the overall strategies and objectives of GWM Business Risk Management, including IWM and the Bank + Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, and coaching mindset + Model the vision / values / strategy of GWM while supporting succession and talent development + Lead and drive a client focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge + Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive and diverse work environment **What You'll Bring:** + University degree in Commerce or Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance + 8+ years of relevant Wealth industry experience (or 5+ years with an MBA) with working knowledge of IWM + Professional designations such as CPA, CA, CFA, CIM, and/or FRM (preferred) + Experience and knowledge of Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance, Audit, Operational Risk, Third Party Risk Management, or Legal + Project management and regulatory reform experience + Strong understanding of regulatory bodies including OSFI, OSC, and CIRO + Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or CFA Level 1 (asset) + Knowledge of Global Wealth businesses and support functions across delivery channels including IWM + Effective written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, deliver presentations and effectively interact with GWM businesses and other departments + Exceptional problem solving, stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills + Strong data analytics skills including Power BI proficiency (preferred) **Interested?** If your experience is closely related but doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification, we do encourage you to apply - you might be the right candidate for this or other roles at Scotiabank!
