Group Procurement Raw & Cementitious Materials Manager

For our Group Procurement team, we are looking for a Group Procurement Raw & Cementitious Materials Manager (f/m/d). The Group Procurement RM & CM Manager is responsible for managing the global category Raw materials (RM) and Cementitious Materials (CM) spend of Heidelberg Materials. While supporting the formulation of strategic recommendations in this category, the focus is on the optimization of costs, quality and availability across the organization. This role involves the active management of the category, leveraging data-driven insights to ensure cohesive alignment across countries and departments, supporting category cluster leads in enhancing key operations.

This position is located in Heidelberg (Germany) or other key market (e.g., Europe, North America) and you will report to the Global Category Leader (Alt.) Raw, Suppl. Cem. Materials.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Supporting the development of the category strategy for RM & CM in collaboration with local teams to support strategic decision-making and optimize the overarching procurement performance while developing strategic recommendations aimed at optimizing procurement operations across various regions, ensuring alignment with business objectives (incl. sustainability)

Sourcing of Raw and Cementitious by leveraging industry know-how and providing category specific insights to enhance operational efficiency and actively managing RM (incl. for ready-mix) and CM suppliers

Supporting local tenders through bundling and standard negotiation strategies (incl. best practice sharing) and conducting/ leading effective negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and reduce costs associated with procurement of RM and SCM

Conducting thorough cost analysis and running should-cost models to proactively identify savings opportunities (including make or buy analysis), collecting and analyzing data to evaluate performance and propose new procurement solutions

Performing comprehensive market benchmarking to evaluate procurement performance against industry standards, identifying gaps and opportunities for advancements

Collaborating closely with local teams to ensure effective procurement practices and gain insights into regional procurement challenges and opportunities

YOUR PROFILE

Professional experience: Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Procurement, preferably within the building materials industry or related chemical industry (with a focus on Raw & Cementitious Material and Chemicals); managing procurement processes for large-scale projects, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management, in both buyer and international supplier markets environments; executing procurement strategies across diverse markets, adapting approaches to meet local regulatory and market conditions

Technical know-how: Cost analysis and financial oversight of procurement; evaluating supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarking; manufacturing processes
and technologies relevant to natural raw materials (e.g. quarry operations) and synthetic/by product raw materials (e.g. steel and electricity production); procurement standards, policies, procedures, and sourcing management philosophy; strong negotiation skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholder

Behavioral know-how: Excellent verbal and written communication skills (min. English); experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional team collaboration; hands-on and proactive mentality with commitment to deliver tangible results; resilience, autonomy, and leadership qualities; behavior and conduct in line with HM Code of Conduct; high willingness to travel, with flexibility for national and international business trips
