You’ll play a key role in shaping how we operate, combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery to embed best-practice procurement across a broad enterprise. Key ResponsibilitiesLead category strategy development and execution across indirect spend categories (e.g., technology, professional services).Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to enhance value, innovation, and service delivery.Partner with business units to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with operational and strategic priorities.Deliver cost-out, process improvement, and supplier-driven innovation initiatives.Manage supplier performance, contract compliance, and risk through effective governance and KPIs.Oversee major procurement negotiations, contracts, and amendments, ensuring legal and operational obligations are met.Influence senior stakeholders, guiding procurement decisions and acting as a trusted advisor across the enterprise.Leverage data analytics, market insights, and emerging technologies (including AI) to optimise category outcomes.Champion continuous improvement, sustainability, and ethical sourcing across supplier and category management practices.What You Will BringA high performing mindset with a focus on quality executionYou’ll be a great communicator and interpreter of business needs with deep procurement experienceTertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).10+ years’ experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management within large, complex environments.Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional procurement teams and supplier relationships at scale.Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and manage commercial negotiations.Expertise in indirect categories (especially technology procurement) is highly desirable.Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and experience managing risk, compliance, and supplier performance.High emotional intelligence and the ability to manage complex, competing priorities.Excellent Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, and contract management skills.Benefits of working with Downer Work with an ASX listed company, working with market leaders.Grow your career with us, we are passionate about giving our people opportunities to grow through personal and professional development and continuous learning:Professional development programsAccess to professional memberships and industry networksBe part of a team that cares, we foster a work environment built on support that is flexible around our employee’s wellbeing needs:Flexible work arrangementsParental leaveEmployee Assistance ProgramPrograms promoting diversity and inclusionA range of Corporate Benefits, including: Discounted services (car hires, hotels, insurance, retail stores, gyms)
