Grounds Maintenance Laborer Location: National Institution of Health (Dickerson, MD location) Poolesville, MD Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Variable Shifts Compensation: $19.87-$19.87/hr. Tessera is seeking a hardworking and experienced Grounds Maintenance Laborer with a professional attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: + Mowing, pressure washing, trimming, raking grass, picking up brush, and loading large wheel barrels. + Responsible for planting grass, flowers, tress, and shrubs. + Responsible for spreading bark, mulch, manure. + Active sprinkler system and utilize hoses to water all grass, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds, and improve areas. + Pick up all trash, debris, litter, including trash dumpsters, loading docks, and patios. + Operate weed eaters, chainsaws, and brush cutters. + Operate mower, weed trimmer, basic mechanical grounds equipment, and other equipment as necessary. + Assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment. + Shovel, blow snow, plow snow, and remove snow and ice to maintain clear and safe sidewalks, roadways, parking areas, emergency exits, and fire hydrants. Additionally spread salts on roadways and walkways to ensure safety. + Clean and maintain ground equipment daily. Qualifications: + Up to three (3) years of experience in grounds maintenance preferred. + Working knowledge of common hand and power tools. Physical Demands: + Position duties require working outside in the weather. Conditions may include rain, cold and/or heat. + Work site location can include steep inclines, such as slopes, hills, and uneven ground surfaces. + Position may require working in high places such as scaffolding, ladders, man baskets, and/or cherry pickers. Requirements: + Valid Driver’s license preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain approval to operate a vehicle by Tessera’s insurance carrier. + Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
