**Job Summary**
+ The Grounds Person – Tree Care II assists in tree trimming and removal operations, including ground-level tasks such as clearing, chipping, and disposing of tree debris. This role requires the demonstration of specific skills or verifiable prior experience in tree care operations. The Grounds Person II supports more advanced tasks and contributes to a safe, efficient, and well-organized job site.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Perform all role-specific tree care operations on the ground, demonstrating a solid understanding of arboricultural practices and procedures
+ Utilize advanced skills in the safe operation of powered equipment, including chippers, trucks, and blowers
+ Demonstrate intermediate to advanced chainsaw skills, including limbing, bucking, and directional felling. Proficient in both ground-based and canopy-based cutting techniques
+ Effectively use hand tools such as pole saws and pole pruners to perform precision pruning from the ground
+ Select and use task-specific PPE in accordance with industry standards and company protocols
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and protected job site with minimal guidance
+ Assist climbers and crew leaders with rigging operations and demonstrate proficiency in setting up basic rigging systems from the ground to prevent property damage and ensure crew safety
+ Independently implement traffic and pedestrian control plans to maintain a safe work zone
**Education and Experience:**
+ Follows established directions and procedures related to roping and rigging, routine maintenance, equipment adjustments, and reporting of malfunctioning or unsafe equipment
+ Performs addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving weight, volume, and distance. Estimates or calculates measurements relevant to arboricultural field operations
+ Applies critical thinking to interpret and carry out instructions. Completes standardized tasks with competence, adapting to occasional field variables as needed
+ Uses standardized hand signals to communicate clearly and safely with climbers and other crew members
+ Verbally communicates with the general public to provide clear direction and ensure safety around the work zone
**Physical Demands/Requirements:**
+ Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (during emergency work, mandatory overtime, after-hours, weekends, and holiday work may be required)
+ Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 80 pounds
+ Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day
**Work Environment:**
+ Work outdoors in extreme conditions near automotive traffic and direct sunlight
+ Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
+ Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
+ Requires protective clothing and personal devices: eye protection, safety vest, gloves, hard hat, earplugs, long-sleeved shirts, and work boots

**Compensation Pay Range:**
$22-28
