In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. The Gross Margin Improvements Engineering Lead will drive the Margin Improvement program for Electrophysiology. With a developed technical and financial acumen, the incumbent will identify and implement high impact/large scale initiatives to deliver sustainable improvement to gross margin. You will collaborate across cross-functional division leadership to gain broad alignment for the long-term strategy, as well as short-term execution of critical projects and programs. **What You’ll Work On** **Key Objectives** + Drive transformational change by delivering significant productivity improvements across manufacturing lines **Key Responsibilities** + Lead and implement lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste and improve process efficiency + Identify and execute strategies to reduce scrap rates and labor time + Collaborate with Site Operations and Quality Directors/Managers across multiple locations to align on improvement initiatives + Manage cross-functional projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery of milestones + Monitor and report on progress toward cost and output goals, adjusting plans as needed **Candidate Attributes** + **Lean Methodology Expertise** : Proven ability to apply lean principles to drive continuous improvement + **Strong Problem Solver** : Analytical mindset with a track record of reducing scrap and labor inefficiencies + **Influential Communicator** : Capable of engaging and aligning stakeholders across multiple sites and functions + **Project Management Skills** : Skilled in planning, organizing, and managing resources to meet deadlines and objectives + **Clear Communicator** : Able to convey ideas, instructions, and feedback clearly and concisely + **Adaptable and Resilient** : Thrives in dynamic environments, adjusts strategies as needed, and maintains composure under pressure + **Collaborative Leader** : Fosters teamwork and ensures alignment toward shared goals **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (Master’s preferred) + 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with a focus on lean and continuous improvement + Experience working in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus + Strong proficiency in project management tools and methodologies + Familiarity and experience working across functions (e.g., Operations/Supply Chain, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, R&D, Finance, HR, et. al.); natural tendency to think about key questions/issues from an integrated, cross-functional perspective. + Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate, and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall. + Demonstrated ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative data through analysis, identify insights, and translate to actions. + Experienced managing ambiguity and proactively sensing risks; demonstrated ability to uncover hidden (or less obvious) risks, take ownership of problems, exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate course of action where precedent may not exist. + An approachable and credible communication style, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, to keep all levels of the organization informed, engaged, and motivated. + Excellent collaboration skills – able to navigate complex matrix within the Division and the broader Abbott organization to ensure alignment of priorities and partnership throughout program execution.
