Our programs operate across Italy, including in Trieste, Milan, Rome, Turin and various locations in Sicily and Calabria, with a strong focus on supporting the most vulnerable populations, such as women and children. Position Summary This is a paid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in grants and partnership management within a humanitarian context. The Grants & Partnership Intern reports to the Senior Grants Officer and works closely with Program Managers, the M&E team, and other program staff to support donor reporting, business development, grant management, and compliance processes for IRC Italy. Learning Objectives By the end of the internship, the intern will be able to: Understand the full grant lifecycle, from proposal development to reporting and compliance. Gain practical experience in donor engagement and partnership coordination. Develop skills in drafting donor reports, concept notes, and proposals. Learn to navigate internal systems such as OTIS and PEERS for grant and partnership management. Strengthen cross-functional collaboration skills in a multicultural humanitarian setting. Build foundational knowledge of humanitarian principles and IRC’s programmatic approach. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Pre-Award Research calls for proposals at local, national, European, and global levels. Support the development of proposals and concept notes, including technical and financial inputs. Assist with program design and business development initiatives. Post-Award Assist in preparing high-quality, timely donor reports in collaboration with program and finance teams. Help maintain organized and up-to-date grant documentation and tracking tools (e.g., OTIS). Participate in grant meetings (opening, review, closing), take minutes, and support compliance monitoring. Support partnership management through IRC’s PEERS system, including administrative and reporting coordination. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and documentation of lessons learned. General Build effective working relationships across departments and with partners. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Senior Grants Officer. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred. Previous humanitarian experience is an asset. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Fluency in Italian and English, with strong writing skills. Strong interest in supporting refugees and vulnerable populations. Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
