Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join our client's team in Toledo, Ohio. In this role, you will handle grant accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with established standards and funding requirements. This permanent position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health of a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing mental healthcare services.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
• Prepare and submit fiscal reports to administration, funding entities, and the board of trustees.
• Create and post journal entries in the general ledger, ensuring accurate documentation and support.
• Perform monthly account analyses and reconciliations, addressing discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor grant funding, prepare billing reports, and submit reimbursement requests.
• Assist with audits by preparing necessary documentation and collaborating with auditors.
• Develop financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including budget-to-actual comparisons.
• Educate staff on accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance across departments.
• Calculate indirect cost rates and maintain supporting documentation.
• Contribute to the annual budget preparation and support financial reporting for funding sources.

Requirements
As the successful candidate, you will most likely possess:
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field
• At least two years of experience in grant accounting, financial reporting, or fund accounting. (this is a must have)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized accounting systems is essential.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.
• Demonstrated honesty, dependability, and organizational skills are vital.
