limited to:Nasogastric (NG) tube InsertionMaintenance functional activitiesDressing changesECGMaintenance of enteral tubesSuctioningBlood glucose monitoringAssisting with postmortem carePhlebotomyInitiation of peripheral IV lines and urinary catheterizationMonitoring and managing patient safety
What the Nurse Extern will do:
Respond to patient call lights for assistance or by rounding Collaborates with members of the health care team to ensure consistency and high-quality patient care and promotes productiveemployee relations among staff members.Assists the registered nurse by observing and reporting on patient conditions, recording/charting patient information and
interacting with patient and family members. Reports changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition to the registered nurse.

Nurse Extern Minimum Requirements Include:
High School diploma Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing. Has successfully completed two clinical semesters of nursing school.Preferred Additional requirements of coursework dependent on the area of assignment.Preferred Requirements include:
EMT, Paramedic, Nurse aide or CENA experience in a health care setting; acute care experience preferred.BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support.Highlights:
