Job Summary Job SummaryWould you like to build a truly Christian and classical grammar school (elementary school) program within a thriving Orthodox Church community? Saint Andrew Academy is a one-of-a-kind educational institution: flexible, affordable, family-oriented and rigorous. We combine the best of a parish homeschool co-op with rigorous, university-style classes, and a range of social opportunities such as sports, dances, theater, and a house system. We are seeking full- and part-time (and substitute!) grammar school teachers (TK-6th grades). The primary focus of these roles is teaching grade school children a variety of subjects, including PE, classical writing, phonics, Singapore math, etc. Grammar School teachers report to the Grammar School Dean and the Academy Headmaster. They are responsible for multiple “preps,” for collaborating with other teachers, and occasional supervision or other duties. Ideal candidates love working with children, serving the Church, working with a team, and solving problems.
Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Responsibilities Teach all subject matter assigned in the designated grade, adhering to the course of instruction as described in the curriculum Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroom Preparing lessons, units and projects to complete learning objectives Assessing students via tests, quizzes, essays, projects, and oral “narrative” assessment Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention Tracking and evaluating student academic progress; report and record student progress through means of report cards, cumulative records, and progress reports Leading parent-teacher meetings, and communicating with parents via email and digital classrooms Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors Communicating regularly with parents Helping students improve study methods and habits, and positive growth mindset Compensation & Benefits The expected compensation range for this position is between $25,000 - $35,000, depending on hours and experience. Full-time (Monday through Friday) may be available. Part-time (Tues/Thur) may also be available. These options allow for side projects, family time, and other work. Part-time, subject to eligibility. Confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual starting salary.
