Introduction

The Source Laser Beam Delivery group is part of the Mechanical Development cluster, is responsible for the design of different optical systems to guide the laser beam. Along the laser beam-path there are multiple optical systems that must adhere to tight tolerances to ensure precise positioning of the laser beam. One way to mitigate some of these tolerances is to have adjustable mechanisms that point the laser beam in the right direction.

Your assignment

Within ASML and the broader industry there are numerous precise tip/tilt adjustment mechanisms however a comprehensive overview of all of the mechanisms, including advantages and disadvantages is lacking. This gap forces designers designers to spend time re-evaluating. 

The objective for this assignment is to research and document most relevant adjustment tip/tilt mechanisms and to design and build a test setup for validation. The main deliverables for this internship are:

Document and adjustment tip/tilt designs within ASML and relevant industries

Design and build a test setup to validate designs and evaluate pros and cons for each design

Correlate repro with analytical tools
 

Your profile

To be a match for this internship, you:

Are a final year Bachelor or Master student in Mechanical engineering or related field, looking for a graduation/thesis internship.

Have experience with CAD and precision mechanics.

Are solution oriented, communicative and have a hands-on mentality.

Manufacturing knowledge is helpful but not a must.

This is a fulltime graduation internship preferably for 9 to 12 months.

Other requirements you need to meet

You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;

You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;

If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
