Job Summary

The Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS) is looking for a Graduate Program Coordinator who is committed to and passionate about assisting students with their development and success in academic programs. The Graduate Program Coordinator is an important member of the NERS student services team, providing high-quality and impactful programs/resources to graduate students. The individual will manage the daily operations and management of the entire graduate student lifecycle. A few of the primary responsibilities include providing advising to NERS graduate students, leading recruitment and admissions processes, onboarding new graduate students, and processing graduate student fellowship funding and benefits.

The Graduate Program Coordinator will report to the Student Administration Manager.

Responsibilities*

Graduate Student Support (50%)

Serve as the key staff member for NERS graduate programs and is the primary contact for academic and administrative needs for the graduate program. Act as a liaison between graduate students and their faculty advisors. Coordinate with faculty advisors and provide academic advising regarding students' program progress and barriers.Meet with graduate students to provide information, recommendations, and resource referrals as appropriate, regarding a variety of topics such as program degree requirements, university/college/department policies and procedures, and non-academic factors affecting performance and overall success.Maintain student records and degree milestones paperwork.

Graduate Student Recruitment & Admissions (25%)

Coordinate with University, College, and Departmental staff to implement student admissions and onboarding.Manage graduate recruitment events (EMERGE, Annual Visit) and develop new recruitment initiatives.Oversee the graduate program admissions process for the department, including assisting the Graduate Program Committee and working with faculty.Promote graduate programs and act as a primary point of contact for prospective students.

General Graduate Student Services Administration (25%)

Collaborate with research administration staff and human resources to process fellowship funding and benefits for graduate students.Cross-collaborate with inter-department, college, and university partners to develop community-building opportunities for students.Run reports, analyze, and provide data and information to faculty and staff leadership.Other duties as assigned.
 Required Qualifications*Bachelor's degree and three (3) or more years of experience in higher education in student services-related roles or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.Demonstrated history of working diplomatically with faculty, staff, and students under a variety of circumstances, in an academic setting.Demonstrated work history in providing exemplary customer service, working independently with a service-oriented approach to tasks.Familiarity with university policies and procedures, particularly relating to student services supporting graduate students.Experience navigating web-based systems and high level of proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite Software, and Google collaboration tools.Experience managing several projects at once.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Desired Qualifications*Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or a related field.At least two (2) years of experience in graduate student advising, with experience coordinating student outreach and programming.Familiarity with M-Pathways/Wolverine Access, Business Objects, and College of Engineering systems.Experience in processing graduate student funding and benefits.
