The primary role of the Operations Technology (OT) Engineering function is to apply foundational knowledge of industrial automation, control systems, and digital operations technologies to support and optimize manufacturing systems and infrastructure. The OT team plays a critical role in developing and maintaining robust, secure, and efficient production environments by integrating physical equipment with digital systems.
Key deliverables include assisting with the deployment and maintenance of control systems, executing network and system support tasks, and contributing to the implementation of smart manufacturing and OT cybersecurity initiatives.
Let’s Talk About the Role & Responsibilities:
The primary objective of the Operations Technology specialization is to ensure the reliable and secure performance of industrial technology platforms used in manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the implementation and support of manufacturing control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA, MES).
Supporting the resolution of OT-related technical issues and contributing to system uptime and reliability.
Following established OH&S and cybersecurity guidelines for operational environments.
Supporting the introduction and maintenance of OT infrastructure, including industrial networks and system interfaces.
Participating in validation and documentation of system changes in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards.
Supporting quality and efficiency improvements through digitization and process automation projects.
Applying basic engineering principles to troubleshoot and optimize integrated IT/OT systems.
Responsibilities may include:
Performing routine technical activities related to OT infrastructure, systems, and projects (early in career).
Supporting project execution and delivery under guidance from senior team members.
Collaborating across Manufacturing, IT, Quality, and Product teams to implement secure, scalable technology solutions.
Participating in the development of solutions that align with ResMed’s digital transformation goals.
Builds stable working relationships internally to exchange technical and process information.
Receives guidance and mentorship from senior engineers and project leads.
Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Industrial, Systems) or related discipline.
Foundational understanding of manufacturing systems and industrial technology platforms.
Follows standard practices and procedures and applies basic theories and concepts to analyze and troubleshoot technical issues.
Demonstrated interest in operational systems, controls, or manufacturing automation.
Preferred:
Exposure to PLCs, SCADA, or MES systems through academic or internship experience.
Understanding of industrial networking or protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP).
Interest in cybersecurity, smart factories, or OT/IT integration initiatives.
