WSP in the Middle East are looking for a Graduate Consultant – Ground Engineering to join us in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As a Graduate Consultant in Ground Engineering, you will assist experienced engineers and geotechnical professionals in various tasks related to the analysis and improvement of ground conditions for construction projects.
+ Becoming the force of innovation and digital transformation supporting the Ground Engineering Team to drive applications and revenue in Smart Geotechnics, Remote Sensing, and AI.
+ Ideating and implementing AI/ML algorithms and applications to support the vision of the Ground Engineering Team to consolidate as a leader in digital engineering design, geotechnical modelling, site assessments, and monitoring of geotechnical assets.
+ Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and emerging trends in AI/ML, generative and agentic AI, geotechnical engineering, and engineering geology to continuously improve project outcomes.
+ In parallel, this role involves time of a more traditional geotechnical engineering role, which will include:
+ Undertaking geotechnical site characterizations and assessments to analyse geological conditions and identifying potential geotechnical risks.
+ Assist in the design of geotechnical, geophysical, and geo-environmental site investigations.
+ Supervise site investigation contractors and conduct site investigations, including logging of soils and rocks.
+ Manage geotechnical investigations, subsurface exploration, soil and rock sampling, laboratory testing, and analysis to provide accurate engineering recommendations.
+ Evaluate and interpret ground data using 2D/3D geological and geotechnical software modelling.
+ Support the preparation of detailed geotechnical factual, interpretive, and design reports, presentations, and specifications for internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating complex geological concepts to non-technical audiences.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional and multidiscipline teams to incorporate geotechnical considerations into project plans, designs, and construction strategies.
+ Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferable) in geotechnical engineering, geology, engineering geology, geological engineering, or a related field with a heavy focus on developing AI/ML applications.
+ Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, computational geomechanics, applied AI/ML, data science applied to civil or geotechnical engineering problems, database systems, software engineering and App development, Python, R, Java, MySQL, development of APIs in geotechnical software: Plaxis, OpenGround, Leapfrog, Revit, Civil 3D, AGS files.
+ Knowledge of geological and geotechnical engineering principles, including soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geotechnical testing methods.
+ Familiarity with relevant software and tools for geological modelling, analysis, and reporting: Plaxis 2D, Plaxis 3D, GeoStudio, Rocscience.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
+ Creative and professional curiosity mindset.
+ Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
