Job SummaryBattelle is seeking a Security Specialist II. The position is in Columbus, OH.
We are seeking a detailed oriented, self-motivated Security Specialist II to support the Government Security Office. This role is responsible for ensuring effective safeguarding, control, and compliance of classified information and secure spaces. The ideal candidate will understand industrial security practices, 32 CFR Part 117 compliance, ICD 704/705 directives, and DoDM 5205.07 SAP compliance. Must work well both independently and in a team environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting the overall program security in coordination with the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
Responsibilities Ability to work independently and cohesively within a team atmosphere.Assist with the security clearance process for staff members, consultants, and key management personnel (KMP).Coordinate clearance requirements for classified meetings and provide security clearance information for classified visits/certifications to government and cleared industry facilities.Interprets security regulations and provides expertise with respect to security clearance management, fingerprinting, background investigation packets, release forms, security briefings, and debriefings.Serve as a liaison with US Government Clients for security compliance matters.Responsible for security program self-inspections and preparations related to client inspections. Prepare and maintain official records auditable by US Government representatives.Create security educational materials; provide briefings; facilitate security awareness training.Assist with UL2050 semi-annual requirements for secure spaces to include escorting into secure spaces. Maintain and update secure room rosters for secure areas.Provide proposal support, as needed to include writing Security Volumes, OPSEC, or specific security program plans.Escort uncleared staff into program areas for extended periods of time.Responsible for updating internal database of record such as SIMS and tracking training dates and safes.Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) with the overall security program.Manage DD254 contracts close out process.Assist with program compliance as it relates to supporting classified programs. Key Qualifications Associate degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience as a CSSO, CPSO, or FSOExperience with client security databases such as DISS, NBIS, and NISS Experience with Windows computer operating systems and SharePointMust be a US citizenActive Top Secret Clearance, or immediate eligibility for a Top Secret clearanceAbility to travel to attend meetings and training (less than 5 percent of time)Benefits: Live an Extraordinary Life
