Collaborate with dynamic, cross-functional and international teams

As a Government Relations Officer, your job duties include staying current on existing and proposed legislation in Algeria, building good relations with relevant government officials, and updating management on relevant laws and regulations.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Handling all government-related processes in compliance with local regulations.Facilitating meetings with government officials and represent the organization in all regulatory matters.Processing and renewal of various licenses, permits and other legal documents required by the government.Being Well versed with the continually changing laws, permits, registrations, and other government related policies and procedures.Ensuring all permits and licenses are up to date and arrange for timely renewals.Effectively communicate with government entities and internal stakeholders on all relevant matters.Coordinate and support all government-related inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements.Ensuring & supporting continuous process improvementsMonitor and interpret local regulations, ensuring company operations adhere to all applicable laws and standards.Collaborate with internal teams to align project planning and execution with regulatory requirements. Provide guidance on regulatory risks and mitigation strategies.Prepare, review, and submit regulatory filings, permits, and compliance reports.Maintaining accurate records of all regulatory interactions when due and needed.Conducting training sessions and workshops to educate internal teams on regulatory compliance and best practices.Tracking changes in legislation and regulatory policies that may impact Baker Hughes operations and advise leadership accordingly.

​To be successful in this role you will:

Have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in government affairs, Law, political science, business administration or a related field.Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory affairs, government relations, or compliance within the energy or oil & gas sector.Have a strong understanding of local regulations and the regulatory landscape in Algeria.Have an excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Be proficient in both English, Arabic, and French is preferred.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.Be proactive, motivated self-starter, maintaining discipline and focus in managing long term initiatives without close supervision.Be capable of handling confidential matters with integrity and discretion.Experience working with multinational corporations or in a consulting capacity.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to travel locally or regionally as needed.
