**Job Description**
**The Position**
Reporting to the Senior Director in the UK & Ireland Government Affairs team, this role will provide support for the delivery of strategic government affairs programmes primarily for our Oncology portfolio, with ad hoc support for the Virology team, as well as support our external corporate engagement programme. The individual will need a good understanding of the current commercial environment and will need to work cross functionally and with external partners to ensure that Gilead is able to effectively inform policy debate, and enhance Gilead’s corporate reputation.
**Essential duties include:**
+ Analyse the political and policy environment to ensure that Gilead senior management is fully informed of key developments with significant business impact.
+ Identify key public policy issues and coordinate the development of Gilead responses.
+ Work with the Director to oversee the activities of our government affairs agencies, ensure that tactical programmes are delivered according to plan.
+ Support the Government Affairs team and Gilead senior management to manage our external engagement and draft high-quality briefing materials
+ Provide coordination and support to the Government Affairs team in drafting internal communications, reports, and events.
+ Contribute to strategy development and strategic planning, in partnership with GA agencies
+ Manage the flow of information to and from trade associations including EMIG and the APG.
+ Work with Gilead compliance teams to ensure that all GA activities are fully compliant with all laws, regulations and the ABPI Code of Practice.
**Knowledge, Experience and Skills:**
+ Experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sectors; policy, public affairs experience
+ Proven ability to understand and clearly communicate policy, scientific and economic topics
+ Well-developed understanding of the UK healthcare and pharmaceutical policy environment
+ Ability to manage relationships with a high number of diverse internal and external stakeholders
+ Sound business judgment and analytical skills, and strong team player.
+ Skilled at managing projects and working in a matrix environment
+ Innovative approach and willingness to learn and adopt new ideas
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
+ Ability to ensure that all government affairs activities are fully compliant with all laws, regulations and the ABPI Code of Practice.
