This role ensures the smooth coordination of events, develops marketing strategies to promote participation, and supports a high-quality experience for all players. Located just minutes from downtown Boise, Warm Springs is an 18-hole championship course along the Boise River, known for its spacious fairways, scenic foothill views, and accessible recreation for all ages. Operated by Boise Parks and Recreation, the course serves as a key community asset in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. Essential Functions + Manages the work of professional, technical and/or other staff; determines the organizational structure, staffing needs and work strategies; ensures adequate resources are available for staff to perform work duties; and ensures that assigned operations and activities comply with organizational goals and objectives. + Oversees all outside operations of golf facilities. Directs employees to administer golf programming, including leagues, lessons, tournaments, merchandise sales and staffing. Prepares for golf tournaments, manages course setups and oversees all course maintenance. Oversees integrated pest management (IPM) practices and ensures compliance with all regulations. Oversees efficient tee time inventory management, scheduling of league, tournament and open play and maintenance schedules to maximize golf course usage. + Establishes rates to meet the financial obligations of operations. Oversees golf lessons and plans and organizes clinics to meet customer needs. Ensures water, food handling, alcohol distribution and CPR requirements comply with city, county and state regulations. + Oversees the implementation of capital projects within the operating budget. Researches the necessary permits for projects and ensures compliance with all regulations. Oversees, reviews and approves the fleet service management equipment program to include all purchase orders for golf maintenance. Communicates information regarding maintenance, schedules and projects to customers and staff. Conducts staff training on CPR, alcohol distribution, merchandise, customer service, cash handling and all golf-related functions. Oversees and plans menus for banquets, league nights, tournaments and daily food schedules. + Oversees the entire spectrum of internal operations at golf facilities. Ensures all aspects of the golf shop run properly and efficiently. Oversees merchandise inventory, retail pricing determination and coordination of all inventory displays to maximize efficiency and profit. Oversees physical inventory counts and creates reports to include inventory variance, profit and loss and accounting. Provides information and assistance to customers with purchases, equipment recommendations, returns and warranty repairs. Schedules and participates in equipment demonstration days to promote new and existing products. Attends merchandise shows and presentations to evaluate new product introductions. + Provides managerial oversight to staff responsible for golf programs. Develops long- and short-term strategies for athletic programs. Ensures goals are in alignment with departmental and city strategic goals. Provides direction, sets goals for staff and reviews the progress of employees. Manages program budget administration and ensures the planning and alignment of activities fall within budget constraints. Creates and implements policies and procedures as required. Negotiates and manages contracts for concessions, referees and officials. + Develops marketing plans to attract and retain customers. Utilizes marketing tools such as social media, newsletters, city-published activity guides and various internet sources. Establishes and maintains relationships with members, sports teams and the general public to promote customer loyalty and course viability. Provides product knowledge, general course information and golf rules assistance. + Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training + Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation resource management, business administration or a related field and five years of managing adult sports programs, including managing and overseeing golf course program implementation, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. + Knowledge of: the principles and practices of effective supervisory and management methods; budgeting practices and procedures; tournament, course and driving range operations; operations of tournaments and outside events; effective product and merchandising techniques; retail sales and customer service techniques; and computer usage including related software. + Ability to: direct work of supervisors and staff; provide training and set performance standards; compile, develop and organize information into clear and concise written reports; research and analyze information, identify alternatives and develop sound conclusions; engage and inform customers of current trends and techniques; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. + Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training + Five years of experience managing sports programs. Licensing And Other Requirements + Valid state-issued driver's license.
