Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Paste Plant Operator to join the Goldstrike Underground team. The successful applicant will learn to operate a process plant and produce paste backfill on surface which is then pumped underground as geotechnical control to fill voids left by underground mining excavation.
The Paste Plant Operator will ensure safe and efficient operation of various processing circuits/equipment including but not limited to: hydrocyclones, thickeners, vacuum disk filters, reagent handling, solution balance, sample collection, data recording, retrieval of sample data, proper handling of potentially hazardous chemicals, monitoring/controlling water and slurry flows, reagent addition, checking conveyors, pumps, valves, piping and other equipment, making calculations and adjustments as needed to maintain operating parameters within limits and inspect all other components of operating systems and equipment regularly. When not operating the plant, the Process Operator will participate in quality control/quality assurance laboratory work to help ensure the product of the process is of the highest quality possible. The Process Operator is either qualified or willing to qualify to operate surface heavy equipment which supports the underground mines. MSHA Part 48 New Miner Training for Underground Mines is required to be completed/refreshed prior to start date.
Responsibilities:
Conduct work area exam for assigned area(s) to identify substandard conditions that may pose a danger to personnel and take necessary steps to correct identified substandard conditions and document all noted conditions not corrected by the end of shiftConduct routine equipment inspections to identify conditions or defects that may impact employee safety, environmental compliance, property damage or reliability of equipment and take necessary steps to mitigate defects. (Make basic repairs if employee has training, skill, and knowledge or generate work request in work management system.)Conduct detailed equipment inspections as assigned, document deficiencies and generate work requests. (Safety equipment and plant equipment)Maintain circuit operating parameters within designated limitsEnsure all sampling is conducted at designated intervals, accurately processed, and results documented as defined by procedureOperate assigned circuit(s) within specified standards to ensure federal/state/local/site requirements/regulationsStop and start all components or equipment in system.Understand process flows and equipment fundamentals to properly execute LOTO, & trouble shooting actions as requiredWork with team members to effectively and efficiently complete tasksPerform other duties as assignedThe ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role.Qualifications:
