Global Transportation Carrier Manager

The Global Transportation Carrier Manager would be responsible for managing, developing, and optimizing the company’s carrier base and network of transportation carriers across all modes and regions. The position ensures carrier performance, cost efficiency, and compliance with contractual and operational standards, while driving initiatives for continuous improvement and alignment with global transportation strategy.

 

The position is open to the following locations: Helsinki, Finland or Meppel, Netherlands (applications from Amsterdam area will also be considered).

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

Lead global and regional Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), ensuring KPIs, scorecards, and action trackers are in place and actively followed up Support site and area performance reviews, providing visibility on key opportunities, risks, and progress Use KPI insights to identify and drive improvement actions across sites, reinforcing effective carrier collaboration and transportation management routines for operational excellence & data-driven governance Plan and execute RFQs and contract renewals in alignment with the transportation sourcing roadmap to ensure coverage and competitiveness Manage carrier contracts and timelines, ensuring compliance with internal governance and documentation standards Oversee rate card management, ensuring new or updated rates are validated, uploaded into the TMS, and communicated to relevant stakeholders Coordinate with webshop teams to ensure freight costs are correctly reflected, according to the freight recovery guidelines, maintaining transparency between pricing, sites, and finance Define and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for transportation execution, carrier management, and data flow consistency Contribute to the global transportation strategy, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for optimization, automation, and innovation.

 

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration, other relevant Minimum 5 years’ experience in transportation, logistics, or freight management in an international environment Proven experience in carrier performance management, RFQ execution, and contract administration Strong ownership and accountability, ensuring structured and constructive approach, challenging internal and external partners, and consistently driving a continuous improvement mindset Experience with KPI dashboards, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker Studio, BigQuery) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent organizational and coordination capabilities Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools. Experience with ERP/TMS systems (e.g., SAP, LN, nShift, OTM) Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is an asset Fluent English language skills
