Global Research -EM Edge Team Economist - Associate

The EM Edge Economics team is seeking a junior economist based in New York. This role offers exposure to frontier economies, primarily in Central America and the Caribbean, and requires a strong understanding of macroeconomic data and forecasting techniques. As part of a team ranked first in all categories of the Extel survey, you will contribute to award-winning research and actionable ideas for our clients.

 

Job responsibilities

Analyze macro and fundamental drivers of covered economies, producing regular research and deep-dive reportsCreate and maintain models and analytical tools for frontier economiesCollaborate with global economists to deliver forward-looking forecasts and commentaryLiaise with local markets (rates and FX) and credit strategistsInteract with external institutional clients and assist internal sales and trading teamsOrganize investor trips, conferences, webinars, and maintain external relationships to enhance research efforts

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

3-5 years of financial services experience (global markets, fixed income, or economics) covering frontier economiesMaster’s degree in economics or finance preferredSolid economic background and knowledge of political/economic developments in Latin AmericaStrong quantitative skills with proven ability to build macro-models; proficiency in spreadsheets and statistical programming (EViews, R, Python)Excellent written and oral communication skills (Spanish speaking highly desirable)Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and team player mentalityAdaptability and ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
