FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation (HLUS) is seeking an accomplished, talented, and highly motivated individual to serve as Division General Counsel, HLUS and Global General Counsel for its FUJIFILM Biotechnologies (FLB) business, a world-leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for biologics, vaccines and advanced therapies.
Reporting to the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of HLUS, this individual will serve as the leader of FLB’s global legal team. The person in this role will be an accomplished lawyer with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical space, will have strong leadership experience and business acumen. The individual will play a critical role in helping FLB manage new and evolving legal risks, issues and strategy, and in achieving unprecedented business success.
This individual will be a member of both the HLUS legal leadership team and the FLB Business Support leadership team, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the FLB CFO.
This is an onsite position located in Morrisville, North Carolina.
With connections across the FLB business, as well as HLUS and the wider FUJIFILM group, the General Counsel, FLB will be uniquely positioned to spot risks and issues arising in one business area and understand their impacts elsewhere to influence and enable senior management to make informed, business-driven decisions. The successful candidate will be expected to direct legal strategy in a way that enables maximization of business opportunity within tolerable risk parameters.

Responsibilities:
Supporting the objectives of and collaborating with the legal teams of the other Regional Headquarters (RHQs) of Fujifilm.Responsible for reporting legal issues and risk to RHQs and Fujifilm HQs as required and necessary.Introducing technology to deliver more efficient legal services to enable the team to focus on higher-value and more engaging work.Identifying, appointing and managing external legal resources as appropriate ensuring value for money and business-accessible (yet still expert) advice.An ability to regularly travel internationally to support face-to-face meetings with colleagues and customers.
Required Skills/Education:
Excellent academic credentials including a J.D. from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice in North Carolina or admitted to a State Bar of any US State or the District of ColumbiaAt least fifteen (15) years of legal experience gained through a combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.At least seven (7) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.Experience leading legal teams in an in-house legal department is required.Deep contract drafting and negotiation skills in complex transactions in highly regulated industries.Ability to balance counsel against complex pressures while maximizing the interests of FLB.A strategic and analytical thinker, able to apply leading-edge legal knowledge influentially at all levels within FLB.
Desired Skills:
Highly advanced interpersonal, relationship-building, and influencing skills are required to support a complex FLB matrix organization, the wider Fujifilm Group, and across client/vendor organizations.Ability to act with autonomy, objectivity, and independence at all times even when under pressure to find solutions to business issues.Excellent verbal and written communicator.Adept at collaborating (business partnering) across divisions, functions, and geography, with a skill for engaging colleagues at all levels in projects and processes while continuing to own and drive them.
