JLL  Design Lab | Global Creative Director

The Role:

JLL is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Creative Director to lead our Design Lab and shape the future of Real Estate for our clients through the power of design. This is a leadership role that demands a lead-by-example approach, where you will not only manage the JLL Design Lab creative team, but also actively produce exceptional creative designs that set the standard.

The role is fundamentally client-facing; you'll be expected to personally pitch and win strategic, high-caliber work for our clients with your own creative vision.

Reporting to the JLL Global Design Advisory Lab lead, the Design Lab Global Creative Director will:

Be a recognized creative figurehead, representing the JLL Design Lab through the quality of their own designs.Serve as an active member of the JLL Design team.As a practicing designer, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive complex design programs from initial concept to final execution.Through passion, research, and outstanding creative work, ensure the JLL Design Lab "stands out" as an innovative design thought leader.Impart design thinking and creative skills development through active mentorship of direct reports and the broader JLL Design community.Be ultimately responsible for the creative quality and performance of the JLL Design Lab Creative team.

The Responsibilities

What this job involves:

Personally developing client briefs through interviews, data collection, and building appraisals.Appraising client working methods through workplace design best practices to recommend workplace design transformations.Building trust with clients and managing their expectations with confidence and professionalism.Spearheading the preparation and conceptualization of concept designs, pitch documents, and presentations, including directly briefing designers and assistants.Winning work by showcasing both personal and team designs in competitive pitch situations.Attending site meetings (if relevant to the design).Liaising with regional design studios, technical designers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure design adherence when necessary.Fostering a collaborative and inclusive studio culture that encourages creativity, growth, and knowledge-sharing.Attending high-level briefing sessions and presentations with clients.Identifying and forging strategic partnerships to jointly work on cutting-edge processes and technologies, interacting with start-ups, tech companies, and inspirational individuals.Being an expert in researching and identifying new ideas and technological trends (e.g., AI) to spot innovative strategies that benefit the company.Build a tight knit creative design team capable of developing forward-thinking and sophisticated design strategies for JLL's clients, positioning them at the forefront of real estate and employee experience.Working closely with the JLL research and development department.Generating impactful, innovative content for the business.Communicating internally and sharing innovations and trends to raise our profile.Communicating externally to increase brand awareness.Encouraging new ideas and promoting creative thinking within the organization to maintain a positive outlook.Promoting a culture of Design excellence, Curiosity, Learning, and Innovative thinking within the broader JLL design community.

Requirements

Ideal candidate should have:

A strong background as a creative design practitioner and with strong communication presentation skillsA solid track record in large-scale and global strategic interior design projects for blue-chip companies.A minimum of 15 years of experience in creative Interior Design and Consultancy Projects across the world.Proven track record of working internationally with large corporate multinationals.Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary and international creative design teams.Proven track record of creating groundbreaking and innovative strategic design solutions.A well-honed aesthetic appreciation, and experience working with creative teams across a range of disciplines and deliverables.Experience in designing compelling user experiences and implementing them through the most appropriate development tools and technologies.Passion for human-centered design and empathy for those who we design for.Be able to form thoughtful and considered perspectives, supported by both objective fact and strategic conviction.Be inspired by disruptive innovation and transformational ideas and be able to stoke the fires of those around you.A powerful communicator, learner and inspiring mentorship capabilities.Ability to develop strong relationships and enable cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles.Experience in managing client relationships with senior stakeholders.Strong understanding of global market dynamics and cultural nuances in business practicesExcellent storyteller and communicator.An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlinesUp-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the design field.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to Multi-task and prioritise workA team playerA flexible approach to work, especially when travel or long hours of work are required.Excellent Conceptual Design and presentation skillsAbility to sketch and communicate ideas 3 dimensionallyComputer literate with strong skills in Adobe Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUp & or Revit/ ArchiCAD
