Wood has an exciting opportunity a Global Competence Manager to join us on a permanent basis. You will inspire Wood’s enterprise approach to competence, providing a single, assured view of workforce capability across all regions, business units, and disciplines. Shaping and standardising how competence is defined you will lead and align stakeholders through formal governance, consensus‑building, and evidence‑based decision making in a complex, matrixed organisation. 

This role is open to hybrid working from any of our UK offices.

The Role

The Global Competence Manager will role design, operate and governs Wood’s global competency framework and systems, ensuring consistent standards, robust assessment and assurance, and high‑quality data while providing trusted insight to inform workforce planning, learning investment and risk management. The role holder has enterprise authority over competency standards, assessment and assurance methodologies, evidence and verification requirements, and reporting, with the autonomy to challenge, escalate and drive remediation where competency or safety risks are identified.

In the near term, the role delivers a major transformation to eliminate fragmentation and establish one global competency framework and system, while safeguarding business‑as‑usual competence assurance and safety outcomes. Over the longer term, the role embeds competency as a core enabler of safe delivery, workforce planning, deployment, and learning.
