Job Description

The Investment Solutions Group, a cross-functional Brookfield organization, is responsible for driving innovation and growth across the Firm’s investment platform. The team leverages industry and market research to blend investment management excellence with forward-looking thought leadership to deliver holistic, multi-asset solutions across the Brookfield Ecosystem. Importantly, ISG leads the development of new multi-asset class strategies and enhancements to existing offerings, conducts market and competitor research, evaluates strategic opportunities, and partners with internal stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet evolving investor needs.

The focus of this role is to support research-related initiatives internally across key stakeholders, shaping our investment strategy by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data on markets, industry trends, and competitor activity. The role involves product, market, and economic research alongside senior team members and other stakeholders in GCG, business teams, and corporate functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

In this role, the candidate will:

Complete Market Research: Monitor and analyze macroeconomic indicators, private markets, competitor insights, and regulatory developments impacting the asset management sector. Review financial news, market updates, and economic releases daily to inform the team of significant developments. 

Industry Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research into different alternatives asset classes (real estate, private equity, infrastructure, transition, and credit) to guide new multi-asset product offering and evolving trends in asset management. Draft sections of market commentary and contribute to weekly and monthly research publications. 

Competitor Intelligence: Track activities, innovations, and performance of competitor firms, preparing regular reports and actionable insights for internal teams. Maintain a centralized repository of key market trends, peer activity, and industry developments within the alternatives sector, leveraging data sources such as Preqin and industry publications.

Data Collection & Management: Source, clean, and manage large datasets using financial databases, news sources, industry reports, and regulatory filings. 

Reporting & Presentation: Prepare clear, concise summaries, charts, and presentations for team meetings and client briefings, synthesizing complex findings into accessible recommendations. 

Collaboration: Work alongside investment professionals, research specialists, and business development teams to support strategy and content development.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated on evolving technologies, investment strategies, and best practices within asset management and the broader financial sector. 

In partnership with Client Relationship Managers, develop tailored strategic partnership proposals in PowerPoint, incorporating client-specific objectives, Brookfield’s multi-asset capabilities, precedent commercial terms, and competitive positioning.

Support ISG and Firm senior leadership with time-sensitive research requests, presentation materials, and briefing documents for quarterly business reviews, investor meetings, and strategic planning sessions.

Qualification Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (or nearing completion). 

Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving abilities; comfort navigating large datasets and extracting key insights. 

Research Acumen: Experience with primary and secondary research methods; ability to evaluate sources for credibility and relevance. 

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Morningstar is highly desirable. 

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical data into compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data handling, reporting, and documentation. 

Curiosity & Initiative: Eagerness to ask questions, seek new information, and propose process improvements. 

Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 

Experience Required:

Minimum 2 years of work experience in financial services/asset management industry in a product-related or product-adjacent role.

Significant experience in conducting market and competitor research, including using specialized databases, and synthesizing information into reports and key insights.

Direct experience in private funds, client service, and/or investor relations.

Knowledge of global financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and regulatory frameworks relevant to asset management.

Excellent writing and communication skills; fluency in English; ability to convey information in an effective and professional manner.

Superior organization skills with great attention to detail; ability to navigate a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines and priorities.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with Bloomberg, large datasets, investment bank research reports a plus; experience with the following quantitative tools:

SQL: For querying and managing structured data.

Excel Macros/VBA: For automation and data manipulation.

Python/R/SAS: For statistical computing and advanced analytics.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education, and designations
