Hours: Core Hours 9:30-3:30 Mon-Thurs, 9:30-3:00 Fri (variable hours apply)
Duration: 12 month contract
We are seeking a fully qualified GL Accountant to join our finance team on a 6 month contract, to own core general ledger activities and provide day-to-day oversight of GL Specialist output. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of the ledger, driving a timely and accurate month-end close, and strengthening our control environment. You will review and sign off on journals and reconciliations prepared by GL Specialists, coach the team, and collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee core Record-to-Report (R2R) activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and SOX compliance.
• Review and approve VAT returns, payroll journals, e-payable reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline.
• Manage the monthly close process, including fixed asset reviews, capital expenditure analysis, and intercompany netting.
• Provide guidance to junior and GL specialists, acting as accounting subject-matter expert and R2R manager back-up.
• Partner with global site finance teams to meet SLA commitments and resolve escalated issues efficiently.
• Analyse and report key financial KPIs to management, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Drive process optimisation initiatives to enhance accuracy, control, and operational efficiency across finance functions.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Part or fully qualified ACCA / CIMA
• Experience in accounting role
• Experience with SAP would be an advantage
• Previous coordinating / managerial experience would be an advantage
• Solid accounting knowledge
• Team player mentality
• Keen attention to detail
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications
• SAP knowledge advantageous
• Willing to challenge processes
• Good communication / presentation skills
• Understanding of SOX beneficial
