Job Description

The GitOps and OpenShift Administrator role is a specialized, senior-level position that combines expertise in Red Hat OpenShift container platform management with the methodology of GitOps (using Git as the single source of truth for deployment and infrastructure). This role is critical for ensuring the platform's stability, security, and the reliable, automated delivery of applications across multiple environments.

5 to 8 Years Experience

Core Responsibilities

The Administrator is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the OpenShift platform, with an emphasis on automation and declarative state management via Git.

OpenShift Platform Administration (IaaS/PaaS)

Cluster Management: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain highly available and resilient Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters (on-premise or on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Resource Management: Manage and optimize cluster resources, including nodes, machine sets/pools, resource quotas, and limit ranges to ensure efficiency and performance.

Networking and Storage: Configure and troubleshoot OpenShift networking (SDN, OVN-Kubernetes, Ingress, Routes, Service Mesh) and persistent storage solutions (e.g., PVCs, OpenShift Data Foundation/ODF).

Upgrades and Maintenance: Perform routine cluster health checks, patching, and major version upgrades with minimal disruption.

GitOps Implementation and Automation (CI/CD)

GitOps Tooling: Install, configure, and administer the Red Hat OpenShift GitOps Operator, which is based on Argo CD, to manage cluster and application configurations.

Source of Truth: Enforce Git as the single source of truth for all application and infrastructure configuration, ensuring the deployed state consistently matches the state defined in Git repositories.

Configuration Management: Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Application configuration manifests using YAML, Helm, and Kustomize.

Drift Detection: Configure GitOps controllers to continuously monitor the live cluster state, detect configuration drift, and implement automated or manual reconciliation strategies.

Security, Monitoring, and Compliance

Access Control: Implement and manage security policies, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Security Context Constraints (SCCs), and user identity providers (e.g.,AD,  OIDC,  OAuth).

Secrets Management: Integrate and manage secure secrets management solutions within the GitOps and OpenShift workflow.

Observability Stack: Deploy and manage the OpenShift Monitoring stack (based on Prometheus and Grafana) and centralized logging solutions (e.g.Fluentd,Splunk) to ensure platform visibility and alerting.

Backup and Recovery: Implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for the cluster and critical applications (e.g., using   OADP).
