GIS Technician
Job Description A client of Insight Global is looking for a CAD/GIS Technician to support upgrades to a major energy provider’s distribution grid. In this role, you’ll help prepare construction plans and schedules for upcoming work on overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. You will be responsible for creating work packages, assembling construction drawings, listing materials needed for each job, and keeping track of the project scope and schedule. This position requires field work, where you will visit job sites to take notes, photos, and measurements. The information you gather will be used to help develop the final construction designs. Training will be provided on tools, standards, and calculation procedures. This role is ideal for someone detail‑oriented who enjoys both office and field work and wants to build experience in the utility industry. Pay Range: $26.00 - $30.00 depending on experience level Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages while on contract for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Skills and Requirements - Highschool Diploma or GED completion -1+ years of prior relevant experience: working --directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering -OR could have: strong construction background, design work, civil engineering, electrical experience and programming experience -Strong previous experience with AutoCad or MicroStation Design software -Interest in developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards
