Job Title: GIS Technician 2Job Description As a GIS Technician, you will collaborate with technical project leads to execute tasks involving pipeline and spatial data. You will manage geospatial data within GIS platforms, ensuring accuracy through spatial and attribute data edits to support project requirements. You will respond to data analytics requests from transmission business partners, delivering actionable insights. You will also work to develop and implement automated workflows using ModelBuilder and Python scripting to streamline GIS processes. Additionally, you will produce specialized maps, technical reports, and visualizations tailored to project and stakeholder needs, and apply linear referencing methods and concepts to support complex spatial analysis and data integration. Responsibilities + Collaborate with technical project leads to execute tasks involving pipeline and spatial data. + Manage geospatial data within GIS platforms, ensuring accuracy through spatial and attribute data edits. + Respond to data analytics requests from transmission business partners, delivering actionable insights. + Develop and implement automated workflows using ModelBuilder and Python scripting to streamline GIS processes. + Produce specialized maps, technical reports, and visualizations tailored to project and stakeholder needs. + Apply linear referencing methods and concepts to support complex spatial analysis and data integration. + Perform technical project tasks including database design, advanced GIS analysis, and modeling. + Conduct data mining activities to meet customer requirements/specifications. + Provide specialized queries, maps, and reports to meet customer requirements/specifications. + Perform application testing and documentation of defects. + Interface with users and document requested/needed changes. + Identify new GIS technologies/processes/applications to improve departmental functions. + Create and maintain existing automated processes using ModelBuilder/Python scripting or other tools. + Process, prepare, and convert data to enter into GIS from a variety of data formats. + Analyze current business processes and recommend best practice solutions. + Perform QA/QC on version data that pushes to the production environment. Essential Skills + Proficiency with ArcGIS, digitizing, and spatial mapping. + 1+ year of experience working with GIS doing spatial mapping. + Previous experience with editing and digitizing GIS data. + Bachelor's degree in geography or related field AND specific GIS internship experience. + GIS certification AND specific GIS internship experience if not professional GIS experience. + Proficiency with linear referencing techniques and concepts. + Experience with utility mapping, preferably pipeline/natural gas. + Proficiency in Python, SQL, AutoCAD, SharePoint, geoprocessing, spatial analysis, and ModelBuilder. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with ArcGIS Pro is preferred. + Previous experience developing and implementing automated workflows using ModelBuilder and Python scripting is a plus. Work Environment This position is set in a corporate office environment with a hybrid schedule requiring 4 days in the office, Monday through Thursday, and Friday remote. The working hours start between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM for an 8-hour day. The office is located in either Atlanta or Naperville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
