As a GIS Engineer you will be a part of TACTIS Project, which develops a powerful tactical and technical simulation platform tailored for combined forces instruction and training, within Thales' Training & Simulation Business Line.
TACTIS is the most sophisticated simulation training platform, fitting the combined forces needs and requirements in complex battlefield scenarios.
To strengthen our project, we are seeking a Geomatics / GIS engineer for simulation purposes.
He/she will be involved in the production of a new terrain for a land simulation project (buildings, vegetation, street furniture, etc.).
Main responsibilities will include:
Ensuring the production of virtual terrains using tools that are partly commercially available and partly specifically developed by THALES. Virtual terrains may be as large as an entire country. Developing tools to automate the processing of geographic data. Acquiring, validating, producing, and managing high-quality geographic data for a synthetic environment as close to reality as possible. Managing the geographical database instances used by the department. Adhering to cost and schedule constraints. Producing animated 3D objects for the simulated environment from commercial 3D models or models created by subcontractors – this would be an advantage. Integrating 3D models created by graphic designer colleagues into the synthetic environment. Producing comprehensive and high-quality documentation to ensure knowledge retention.A good level of English is required.
