Job Summary Job Summary

6th Grade Basketball Coach - guiding the players through the game of basketball, teaching them the game's rules and techniques, and helping them develop their skills. Practices are M-F after school. Qualifications: Previous Basketball coaching/playing experience preferred Knowledge of Basketball rules and regulations Teach appropriate techniques, rules, strategies, and playing tactics Supervise and conduct practices and games safely Teach good sportsmanship, team cooperation, team communication, work ethic and responsibility to fellow team members Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with players, parents, and athletic directors Work with Athletic Directors to monitor athletes’ school attendance, grades, and behavior Manage uniforms, equipment, and school facilities in a responsible manner First Aid/CPR/AED certification required Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for managing the Basketball team. This includes, but is not limited to: Promoting good sportsmanship, team cooperation and communication to athletes Teaching fundamental basketball techniques, rules, strategies, and playing tactics Holding and running practices: ~1.5 hrs from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM on non-game weekdays Coaching 10 basketball games (See game schedule below) Must have a valid California driver's license and be able to drive to and from visiting schools. Practices and Games: Season dates: December 8th - Feb. 4th. Practices are held on non-game days: typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00 - 4:30 PM (some flexibility on later start time, if needed).
