Job Description

AECOM is seeking an energetic Geotechnical Engineering Intern for a 3-month term starting in May to August 2025. This position is based out in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Compile and present geotechnical data for project teams.Assist with engineering design tasks using geotechnical software.Process instrumentation data and perform calculations to support design decisions.Support field investigations, including borehole drilling, instrumentation installation, and construction supervision.Assist project team during the proposal/bid phase.Communicate effectively with others within the team and with internal and external clients.Perform work in accordance with projected budget and schedule under supervision.Support the soil laboratory testing (Atterberg limits, Sieve, Hydrometer (PSA), etc.).Prepare reports of laboratory test results.Be able to learn and operate a nuclear field densometer.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or college program in Civil or Geological Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering and must have completed at least 1 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for this position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Capable of using Microsoft office software (excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)Coop terms of construction administration, or related experience within the civil, geological or geotechnical engineering field.Willing and interested in working overtime and weekends.Comfortable working in both office and field settings.Willing and interested in working for extended periods of time in northern Manitoba.Perform work safely and effectively. Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.Valid and unrestricted driver's license.Good written communication, time management and organizational skills.Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with ethics and integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.
