Geotechnical Engineer
We have a great opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Morristown, New Jersey / New York offices and be part of the Geotechnical Group for the Northeast region. As an entry to mid-level Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports and maritime, and advanced facilities sectors. By joining our practice you’ll be responsible for leading geotechnical aspects associated with the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, slope stabilizing measures, liquefaction mitigation, and ground improvement. You will also be responsible for coordination and generation of geotechnical-based drawings and specifications, and preparation of data, baseline, and interpretative reports. Skills that are required to serve in this role include, but not necessarily limited to, knowledge and experience in the following areas: * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Experience in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing), and laboratory testing of soils and rock. * Knowledge of the process to design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope stabilization. * Design and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations inspection and testing (drilled shafts, driven piles), and shallow foundations, and trenchless pipe installation. * Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications. * Experience with Plaxis is a plus * BS in Civil Engineering. * MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred). * Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred).
