The Geotechnical Driller is responsible for performing a variety of drilling activities to obtain boring samples. Examples include soil drilling, rock coring, sampling, classifications, in-situ testing and monitoring well installation.

What you’ll do:

The Driller position is responsible for the following duties:

Performs various drilling activities to obtain boring samples. Examples include soil drilling, rock coring, sampling, classifications, in-situ testing, and monitoring well installationInvestigates subsurface conditionsEvaluates sites for drill rig access requirementsMay work in office laboratory and the fieldRecognizes and identifies soil and rock types and material classificationsOperates drilling equipment at shallow to moderate depthsIdentifies and locates utilities and other site safety concernsResponsible for drill rig transportationCommunicates with Project teamsMaintains record log of drilling activitiesDirects site inquiries from general public to the project teamIdentifies and coordinates daily work schedules at job siteLoads and unload augers, drill rods and other drilling equipmentPrepares tooling and supplies for the day’s tasksAssembles and disassembles augers/drill rodsAssists with the location of boringsRetrieves and logs samplesCleans and maintains equipmentPerforms site clean upMust be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

2 years of geotechnical drilling experience requiredMust have experience performing mud rotary drillingMust be bilingual and able to verbally communicate in English and SpanishMay require state or local drilling licenseAbility to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communicationRequires basic math skillsAbility to receive work instructions and follow tasksMust be able to work off shifts and overtimeAbility to travel up to 25% of the timeValid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.Ability to kneel and squat occasionallyAbility to walk and stand for long periods of timeAbility to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)Ability to climb occasionally
