Asda is undergoing an exciting data transformation, placing insight and analytics at the heart of strategic decision-making. We are seeking a Geospatial Insight & Analytics Manager to lead the development and delivery of spatial insight and modelling that supports high-impact, data-led decisions across our commercial, property, and strategic planning functions.

In this role, you will shape and deliver advanced geospatial analytics, visual insights, and strategic recommendations that influence decisions at every level of the organisation. Working in a hybrid cloud environment (ESRI, Databricks), you will apply your expertise in spatial data, modelling, and visualisation to real-world challenges such as location strategy, online delivery, targeted marketing, and customer analytics. You will also mentor and manage our geospatial analyst, helping to grow our spatial capabilities and foster a high-performance culture.

Key ResponsibilitiesCreate Value Through Spatial Insight: Lead the development and delivery of geospatial analytics that solve strategic problems, quantify business value, and support major transformation initiatives.Advanced Geospatial Analytics: Apply spatial modelling and analytical techniques using tools such as Databricks and ESRI ArcGIS to deliver actionable insights.Lead with Purpose: Mentor and develop our analyst while setting high standards of analytical quality, objectivity, and insight that directly influence business outcomes.Engage & Influence Senior Stakeholders: Collaborate with senior leaders across departments to scope spatial opportunities, challenge assumptions, and embed geospatial data into the heart of decision-making.Insight Generation: Translate complex geospatial datasets into accessible and actionable insights that support strategic planning and operational decisions.Enable Data-Driven Decisions: Drive the development of visual narratives using tools like Power BI and ArcGIS that translate spatial data into insight business users can act on.Team Leadership: Provide direct line management and mentorship to geospatial analysts, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.Strategic Contribution: Lead geospatial analytics projects from concept to impact — aligning deliverables to business needs while ensuring clarity, reproducibility, and robustness in all outputs.Promote Best Practice in Geospatial Analytics: Champion consistent spatial methodologies, peer learning, and a strong value mindset across the wider insight community at Asda.What You'll NeedEssential:Proven experience leading geospatial analytics in a complex, data-driven environmentHighly proficient in SQL/Python and have familiarity with GIS technologiesStrong ability to communicate complex spatial insights to senior, non-technical stakeholdersA track record of translating geospatial insight into commercial action and decision supportExperience managing or mentoring junior colleagues, setting clear expectations and driving performanceComfortable leading geospatial projects autonomously, including scoping, delivery, and iterationDegree in a numerate, geography, or analytical fieldDesirable:Proficient in spatial data science and modelling techniquesExperience with Microsoft Azure and DatabricksExperience using BI tools such as Power BI/TableauBackground in retail, FMCG, or other data-rich industriesWhy Join Asda?We are a values-led organisation. We would require this role to be based in our Asda House office, Leeds for at least 3 days a week for this position.
