Geospatial Analytics Intern
**Position Summary:** The Geospatial Intern will support the team with a primary focus on advanced cartography and mapping design for internal tools and GIS applications. This role emphasizes the creation of high‑quality, well‑designed maps and visual standards using the ArcGIS platform, including the development of map components for internal applications and workflows. The intern will gain hands‑on experience in modern cartographic practices, GIS data preparation for visualization, and the design of intuitive, map‑centric tools, while collaborating closely with experienced GIS and application development professionals to support enterprise geospatial initiatives. **Major Responsibilities:** + Design high‑quality cartographic maps using ArcGIS Pro and ESRI web tools, emphasizing visual hierarchy, symbology, scale, and clarity. + Apply map choreography and visual storytelling to effectively communicate geospatial information. + Prepare and manage GIS data to support accurate and efficient map visualization. + Design interactive web maps, mapping applications, and dashboards with maps as the primary visual element. + Create engaging ArcGIS Story Maps that translate GIS data into clear, compelling spatial narratives. + Collaborate with stakeholders to design intuitive mapping products and tools that meet visualization needs. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, or related field (Master’s preferred). + 1+ year of experience using ArcGIS, QGIS, or OpenStreetMap for map design and visualization. + Strong understanding of cartographic principles, GIS data formats, and coordinate systems. + Hands‑on experience with ArcGIS Pro, Story Maps, Dashboards, and web mapping applications. + Able to manage a cross-functional team toward a shared objective **Physical Requirements:** -The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
